Wine Bottles, Paper Mache Style

I found some paper I liked, had some wine bottles laying around, and this was the result.  Great to use as a vase, decoration, or whatever else you can think of.  These will be on sale on Etsy soon!

Bow-Button Scarf

I had some left over yarn from my previous blankets, so I made another bow-button scarf.  This one will be up for sale on Etsy soon.  Turns out that I was using Packers colors, which is perfect considering I live in Wisconsin.

The bow pops in and out of a button hole
It's wide and thick, great for any Packers game!

Pumpkin Painting

Instead of carving pumpkins on Halloween, I like to paint on small ones instead.

Halloween 2012

Sharpie Mugs

I got in to sharpie mugs via Pinterest.  This is one I keep in my office.  On the back, I wrote the George Carlin quote on the back: "Cloud nine gets all the publicity, but cloud eight actually is cheaper, less crowded, and has a better view."

Owl and Mustache Magnets

I turn random things into magnets all the time.  These are a few that I keep in my office now.

Why, yes, my carpet is shag

Mittens, Hats, and Scarves (Oh My!)

It's pretty well-known that I prefer learning how to knit patterns over how to knit shapes.  Even though I've been knitting for 8 years, I just recently started going outside my comfort zone.  I've made dozens of scarves in the past, but these are my first real attempts to knit outside the scarf world.

Accidental hat and mittens from patterns I created on my own.

Bow-Button Scarf

This is my all-time favorite scarf.  Simple, yet super long, warm, and soft.

Bonus!! I puffy-painted this bag.  It holds all our winter gear.

Blankets!

I made my first quilt when I was in the fourth grade.  To this day, it is my parents' dog's favorite thing.  I've traded in my sewing machine for knitting needles and crochet hooks, though.  Here are a couple of the blankets I've completed this last year.  I crocheted both of these.  I prefer to crocheting over knitting when it comes to blankets.  Both of these were crocheted.

The coloring looks more pale here than it does in person, but this is a great cold-weather blanket.   It fits our queen sized bed and is nice and thick.

Here it is again, close-up of the pattern.

This one is a lot airier, better for warmer weather.  Same type of yarn as above, though.

Just for good measure, this is my parents' dog, Missy.  We got Missy right as I entered 8th grade.  She was coming to stay with me last summer for a week and had to bring her favorite quilt with her.  You can see it sticking out of her bag.

Snowflake Candle

I love making candles- wax candles, gel candles, dipped candles, you name it, I've probably done it.  This was one of my first tiny jar gel candles from high school (about ten years ago now).

by the by, it still smells amazing

Daily Journal

I found this idea from Pinterest.  It's a daily journal.  Each day of the year gets its own index card.  Months are separated by pictures.  Because each day has its own index card, you get to write the year followed by a short sentence about your day.  Also because it's an index card, each line is a different year, up to ten years.

Drink Trays, part 1

So these are a group of drink trays that I have either kept or given as gifts.  I have a few others that will be up for sale on Etsy, but that is for a different post.

a friend wanted something sassy and classy for her cosmos

This one would have been up for sale, but the pink kept chipping.   It's now being used as a little gal's pretend serving tray.

bird's eye view

This one was the inspiration for drink trays to come!  I kept this one and it now holds our ever-growing collection of bourbon.

Calendar

I used some paint swatches and an record album frame to create this dry-erase calendar for our home.

Wine Bottle Painting

I painted this back in 7th or 8th grade, so it's about 13 years old now.  It was inspired by one of my favorite painters, RenĂ© Magritte. It's traveled with me through countless moves, but I always find a place for it.

Necklace Holder

Another personal collection item.  Most of these are, in fact.  Because I just now decided I should take pictures of what I've made, I rounded up things I've made that I will own.

This is a repurposed mirror that I turned into a necklace holder.  Mirror is still in the center.  For me, painting is never really about getting it perfect, but rather, enjoying the painting process.

Earring Holder, part 2

This is also one of my crafts I kept for myself.  I made a bigger one as a gift for my friend's birthday one year.  I liked it so much that I made a smaller one for myself.  I painted it to match a jewelry box that I already own.  Not my best painting job, but I enjoy the process more than anything else.

Earring Holder, part 1

This is part of my personal collection- things I've made for the home that I've kept for myself.  It's a repurposed picture frame turned earring holder.  It's definitely one of my favorites.

Hello, Interwebs!

I decided to finally start documenting all the crafts I've created.  I wish I would have started years ago, since this is only a small sampling of what I have done, and can do, but I hope it gives you a better picture of my crafting style.  If you have any questions, just let me know!

Thanks for ch-ch-checking me out!

Gratuitous picture of my puppy, Wally, because I can.
